The Centennial Speakers Series for Kids brings authors and artists to campus to speak with our students. The series
is designed to engage students in the art of reading, writing, creating and publishing.

Young Adult Author James Klise

James Klise, author of the young adult books Love Drugged and The Art of Secrets, will talk to students about the
reasons he writes, where he finds inspiration and how being a writer has shaped his own experiences. He will also
conduct several writing workshops throughout the day that will have selected students getting creative and generating
story ideas on their own.

Children’s Author Deborah Hopkinson

Deborah Hopkinson is the author of over 45 books for children that include picture books, chapter books, middle grade
novels and nonfiction for young adults. Ms. Hopkinson is an expert researcher and often writes to capture important and
overlooked voices from the past, during key historical moments. Come hear about her writing and research processes,
how she generates ideas, and how she brings much of our shared past to life with her books.

Kentucky Artist Panel

Join us for a panel discussion that will include local artists and Collegiate alumni from the arts community. They will
answer questions about where they find inspiration, how they create, and how they stay connected to other artistic
thinkers.
